. Miscellaneous - 1972 - 2010
Most of the above pictures were taken with my 30-year old, peeling Contax 139 Quartz SLR, some with a JenOptik JD C3.1 LCD DigiCam and two with my VGA mobile phone. For the snowy street pic and the mixing desk close-up I used the new Canon PowerShot A480. This seems a fairly decent 10MP camera with optical and digital zoom, plus SuperMacro, that can also shoot VGA movies with sound. With the electronics of the Contax gone and the myopic plastic lens of the JenOptik hopelessly blurred after a clean with an air-brush, the task of "workhorse" belongs to the PowerShot for now. . A snapper`s London - March 2010These were the result of a preliminary expedition, on a changeable and mostly gray day, and most will need to be re-taken when the lighting is more expressive. Originals up to IMG_0146, ... the London School of Management, are 2816 x 2112, and the rest are 3648 x 2736 pixels in size. . A snapper`s London - 20. June, 2010Being a balmy late June evening, I looked out my front door and saw a golden sunset, still about 10-15 degrees up, so on the spur of the moment, I decided to give the "Gherkin" a try - in a different light. As it turned out, I was too late, the sun had sunk below the horizon, barely illuminating the odd thin cloud. Due to the lingering volcanic ash, the sky was even free of both con- and chem-trails, so quite bare. Manual exposure might have improved these results by darkening the sky, but this camera is fully automatic and it is impossible to try hand-holding such twilight shots anyway. Obviously a tripod would have saved the day, had I brought it with me. |
